Summary

The British Academy for Training and Development offers a professional training course in Biomass. This course enables engineers to conduct feasibility studies, provide expert advice to customers, explore fuel types and storage options, and design systems and equipment for different local conditions. A key component of this course is understanding the requirements to meet national professional standards in order to be eligible to install solid wood domestic biomass heating systems. This training course can be used to register for many available schemes such as Competent Persons Scheme (CPS) registration and Microgeneration Certification (MCS).

This course is intended for qualified heating technicians who wish to install domestic solid wood biomass heating systems and is provided by a team of internationally experienced energy engineers. The course provides participants with up-to-date knowledge on how to assess the benefits of implementing biomass systems, design biomass plants, and take advantage of available incentives. This course will enable participants to succeed locally and internationally in the renewable energy and biomass industries.

Objectives and target group

Who should attend?

  • Those who have both a basic and advanced understanding of the industry.
  • Qualified heating technicians.
  • Installers, Maintenance Contractors, Designers, Building Inspectors and Inspectors
  • Anyone who needs to know how to safely install biomass equipment.

How attendees will benefit?

After completion of the course, delegates will understand:

    • Gain a better understanding of the installation, commissioning, maintenance, use, potential energy savings and benefits of biomass technology.
    • Define key aspects of the growing biofuels and biofuels industry, such as different production sites and scales.
    • Describe the current use of energy from biomass.
    • Identify and list past and current incentives for the use and production of energy from biomass.
    • Identify companies that are developing and investing in biomass energy and assess the business benefits of such investments.
    • Identify the science behind biopower and biofuel research, development, and deployment.
    • Describe the scientific, technical, and business factors of energy from biomass sources. B. Six types of biofuel plants (direct combustion, co-combustion, gasification, anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis, and small modular) and biofuel sources. ethanol, biodiesel, methanol.
    • Name the current uses of biopower and biofuels in the energy industry.
    • Discuss and analyze case studies on the integration of biopower/biofuels and non-renewable fuels and energy sources.
    • Developing methods to integrate biopower/biofuels and non-renewable energies to anticipate future changes in energy markets.
